Sniffers are a type of sensor that are privy to the æther on a sensory and linguistic level. They can sometimes channel the æther. Sniffer is a colloquial name for what used to be called the olfactomancer.

Sniffers are able to detect spiritual activity through a keen sense of smell. They may detect an aroma that indicates what the spirit wore or enjoyed in life, such as their favored perfume. They are also able to detect aura through a particular scent, which is indescribable. Most people in one order share a similar scent. For example, oracles smell like bitter almond and honey. Paige, as a dreamwalker, smells like an oracle but with the additional scent of smoke mixed in. Rephaim auras smell of spirits, and there are usually other aromas laced through it depending on the clairvoyant aura they have recently fed from. All amaurotics smell a little like petrol. Sniffers often use smelling salts to block out the odors of spirits.
